Background:
In line with the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) that are derived from the Paris Agreement, India stands committed to reduce Emissions Intensity of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 45 percent until 2030 (compared to 2005), and to achieve about 50 percent of its electric power from non-fossil fuel-based energy resources by 2030. To accelerate the process towards a sustainable urban development, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India launched the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) in 2015..
The Federal Government of Germany is committed to support the Government of India in promoting sustainable urban development, climate resilience and adaptation, two of the key objectives outlined in the Green and Sustainable Development Partnership (GSDP) between India and Germany. In this regard the Indo-German development cooperation project ‘Urban-Act: Integrated Urban Climate Action for Low Carbon and Resilient Cities’ provides technical support to the Government of India in preparing, consolidating and operationalising climate actions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Tasks of the assignment:
To conceptualise, design, and deliver a set of visually compelling and scientifically grounded awareness publications.
1. Content Adaptation & Development
Review key Urban Act publications, toolkits, policy briefs, and reports related to Nature Based Solutions, and Heat Island mitigation. Translate these into student-friendly narratives that retain scientific integrity Co-develop real-world case studies, infographics, thought experiments, and reflection prompts.
2. Creative Design & Format Finalisation
Design a series of 2 modular publications (digital and print-ready) Ensure the materials are visually engaging, accessible, and inclusive.
3. Stakeholder Engagement
Conduct 2 co-creation workshops with university students
